Voila Review

Voila is an AI assistant that works with almost any type of online tool or website from social media platforms to documents, messages, and emails.

Fast and easy to use (Just install the browser extension. Works with Chrome, Edge, Firefox).

Many use cases:
Answer questions, look up information
Write email responses using the Gmail integration
Comments on social media posts
Write entire blog posts
Create high-quality domain-specific documents in product development, UX, marketing, engineering, sales, advertising, and SEO.
Fix spelling & grammar
Summarize, improve, rephrase or translate text
Write and explain code

There isn’t much information available about the company other than it’s based in Prague, Czech Republic. Having said that, I’m impressed with their dedication to the tool and the speed they have been churning out fixes, updates, and features.

Summary: I’m pleasantly surprised and impressed with Voila. It’s simple, elegant, fast, easy to use, works almost anywhere, and powerful.

It works very well, but I encountered 3 major limitations when I first started using it:

It didn’t work with Google docs.
It treated email threads as one long email.
Opening the assistant with selected text didn’t always work. It depends on the website or web app that you were on.

Having said that, the team behind Voila took this feedback to heart and made some significant updates. The Google Docs issue was solved, you can now use Voila with any Google Doc. So did the Gmail integration. It now understands the full context of email threads, providing significantly better outcomes when drafting email responses. The team has been busy churning out updates every month.

There is room for improvements down the road like using data from the user profile to know who is using it and having better context when answering questions. It can also use some integrations like Google Calendar to better respond to emails related to scheduling.

Still, Voila already works well and is much better than many competitors that I purchased on AppSumo. I was impressed when it wrote an entire blog post for me (including a blog description) and had it translated from English to French without any hiccups.

The deal (at Tier 2) makes it irresistible. No more needing to worry about monthly quotas and response length.

Voila is something I really need for my work. I’ve been paying monthly to use Notion AI to accomplish most of what I can do with Voila, and recently Notion changed their pricing forcing their users to purchase Notion AI to all Notion license holders under one account. Voila will solve this problem because it can be used inside Notion.

This will be an instant Tier-2 buy for me when it launches on AppSumo.
